FLUENCY EX.5

The most stressful aspect of the TOEFL is the TOEFL itself. There are many reasons making the TOEFL a very stressful event. For example, first, I can't sleep the night before taking the TOEFL, I just keep thinking about the test. Second, I worry about how I can manage my time during the TOEFL test. Third, I worry about I can keep concentrating during the TOEFL test, during the three hours. Fourth, I always think about the TOEFL as the door I should open to study in the university because it is required. Fifth, the last two weeks before the TOEFL test, I usually keep doing many practice tests to be in the mood for the TOEFL and that gives me stress. Sixth, some people make noise during the test by keep moving their feet on the floor and that is really stressful thing for me. Seventh, the third part of listening is very stressful because it always becomes as a long lecture about some majors I didn't study before. Finally, the TOEFL test conditions cause many physical and psychological reactions.

FLUENCY EX.4

There are many ways to improve your study of vocabulary. First, try to read more articles, magazines and newspapers. Next try to write down all of the new words that you didn’t understand. Translate the new words using an English-English translator machine or book. List the new words into groups, for example, medical group, economic group and accounting group, etc. Then, try to read them and keep them in your mind by using them the next day. Moreover, you can write any small article for yourself using the new words. Suffixes and prefixes will help you to know more vocabulary. For example, there are many suffixes that lead you to know what the word is, noun or adjective. Finally, it is important to know the different kinds of the part of speech.

Next, the article explains that Pasha chose to be an auditor and how she was promoted to a higher position from a clerk to an audit manager in the first company where she worked. Finally, the article says that Pasha has moved to different corporations in different positions based on her qualifications and experience. In conclusion, this article explains that the accountant career is not just for men or dominated by men, but it is an open field for everyone, whether men or women and the accounting is not a difficult major to study, but it is an interesting major.

Reaction:

My major is accounting, so I was attracted to read about my major and how a female can be successful in accounting because in Saudi Arabia, 20 years ago, there were a few female accountants, but in the last 5 years I saw there is an increase in the percentage of females who work as accountants. Moreover, when I worked as a TA in King Saud University in Riyadh, I noticed that there were many female students who were seeking the accounting major. I’m really happy because my major is not dominated by one gender, but it appeals for both males and females.

Reaction:

I have worked as a trainee in the consultancy KPMG office in Saudi Arabia, so I was attracted to read about the summer program in KPMG and how this program builds your knowledge and your skills about your future career and offers a good job when you join it. In my opinion this program is an excellent experiment, especially when I went to the clients and touched the real world of auditing. My recommendation to all of the accounting students in the last year of their study is to join any summer program in any consultancy office.

Finally, she talks about how the accountant is a good job with a good salary. In conclusion, this article shows accounting is important and students should know about that in an effort to study that in the university.

Reaction:

I have worked as an accountant before my current job, so I was attracted to read about my last career and how it is important for business life. The issue I like most in this article is how to show accounting are not numbers and some calculations, but it is an interesting job. My personal opinion is accounting is an exciting job, especially when I worked as an auditor, I really enjoyed it because I looked like a detective looking for some missing numbers. I agree with the article and if someone ever has the chance to study accounting, don’t miss it.
